This study investigates the performance of newly developed application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) by Weeroc, namely Liroc and Radioroc, designed for advanced applications in medical imaging (Positron Emission Tomography) and space instrumentation (LIDAR). The research examines their timing capabilities, particularly Single-Photon Time Resolution (SPTR) and Coincidence Time Resolution (CTR), across various configurations of silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) and scintillation crystals. Key findings highlight significant improvements in timing precision, with SPTR reaching 73 ps (FWHM) for Radioroc and 90 ps (FWHM) for Liroc, and CTR achieving 83 ps (FWHM) in optimized setups. These results demonstrate the potential of these ASICs for high-performance detection systems in their respective fields.
