This paper presents an innovative temporal imaging technique for the accurate spatio-temporal localization of scintillation events within monolithic scintillators, using a digital silicon photomultiplier (Si-PM) matrix. By analyzing the light distribution and the arrival time of the first detected photons, the method enhances the localization of photoelectric events in terms of space, time, and energy. The study demonstrates the use of a LYSO crystal coupled with a Philips Digital Photon Counter, achieving promising results with localization precision around 1×1×2 mm. The findings highlight the potential of temporal imaging for improving PET imaging and similar applications by leveraging advanced temporal and spatial data processing.
